STGC Make Impressive Start In Manning Cup

RJR News / Former many time champions St George’s College kicked off their 2017 ISSA Flow Manning Cup campaign with a classy 7-0 win over Tarrant High at Winchester Park in their Group ‘D’ Manning Cup fixture on Monday. The win gives St George’s an early table lead over St Catherine High who had a 3-0 win over Denham Town. Also in Group ‘D’ Vauxhall clipped Kingston Technical 1-0.

Camperdown are the early leaders in Group ‘C’ hitting five unanswered goals pass Cumberland High. Hydel Group of Schools came from behind in their game against Waterford High at home to win 3-2. 2016 semi-finalists Holy Trinity enjoyed a good start, stopping St Jago 3-2 at the Spanish Town Prison Oval. Jose Marti sit second in the group behind Holy Trinity after they had a similar 3-2 win over Ascot High.

Meanwhile, two goals from Reno Edmonson ensured a come from behind 3-2 win for Munro College in their Zone ‘E’ fixture against Lacovia in the ISSA Flow DaCosta Cup competition. Edmonson scored the last two goals in the victory at Munro.

In the zone’s other fixtures, St Elizabeth Technical hammered Maggotty 8-0 thanks to a four-timer from Demar James while BB Coke stopped Newell 3-2.

In Zone ‘B’, Rusea’s had an 8-1 win over Hopewell, Frome Technical beat Cambridge 3-0 while Knockalva and Green Island played to a 0-0 draw. St James assumed second spot in Zone ‘A’ behind Cornwall College after they had a 3-0 win over Irwin, while elsewhere in the zone, Anchovy blanked Maldon 1-0. Elsewhere, in Zone ‘D’ Petersfield had a 3-0 win over Grange Hill while Black River and Godfrey Stewart ended 1-1.
