The Benefits of Bitumen Stabilised Materials (BSM) in Heavy Duty Pavements in T&T

Trinidad Express / National Quarries Company Limited (NQCL), Lake Asphalt of Trinidad & Tobago (1978) Ltd (LATT) and Danny’s Enterprises Co. Ltd. (Danny’s) are partnering to bring to Trinidad and Tobago an exciting new road building technology. This technology uses an engineered product called Bitumen Stabilized Material (BSM). BSM is processed using Crushed Limestone and Foamed Bitumen to generate a new engineered aggregate.

BSM has the potential to completely replace the use of Crushed Limestone Aggregates in the construction of Asphalt Pavements. BSM will significantly reduce the overall cost of construction, while at the same time vastly improve the longevity of the pavement. BSM surpasses all technical specifications required by the Ministry of Works and Transport.

Laboratory tests on BSM have been successfully completed, and a test strip of roadway will be soon constructed. Another significant milestone in the introduction of BSM to Trinidad & Tobago is planned for December 5, 2017 at the Hyatt Regency.

National Quarries Company Limited, Lake Asphalt of Trinidad & Tobago (1978) Ltd, and the Association of Professional Engineers of Trinidad and Tobago in conjunction with Danny’s Enterprises, Wirtgen GmbH, and Loudon & Partners (South Africa), cordially invites you to our Seminar on the benefits of using Bitumen Stabilized Material (BSM) for construction of roadways in Trinidad & Tobago. The event will be held at the Hyatt Regency on Tuesday December 05, 2017 from 9:00a.m. to 2:00p.m.

The technical seminar is themed, “Sustainable Engineering Design: The Benefits of Bitumen Stabilised Materials (BSM) in Heavy Duty Pavements in T&T” and is priced at TT$650.00 per participant, inclusive of lunch and refreshments. Feature technical presentations will be delivered by local and foreign experts in the field. We would appreciate your attendance, or that of a suitable representative/s from your organization.
