T&T U-17s bid to extend winning streak *

Trinidad Express / PORT OF SPAIN   Defending champions Trinidad and Tobago will be looking to stretch their winning run to three when they take on Guyana in the third round of the Regional Under-17 championship at Queen’s Park Oval, Port of Spain, from 9.30 am today. T&T whipped Barbados and Jamaica on the strength of their spin bowlers to take the lead on the six-team standings however the Guyanese are likely to give the hosts their toughest challenge yet after holding off the Leeward Islands in the previous round of matches to score their first win in the competition. Set 140 to win in a reduced 20 overs, the Leewards were poised to secure their second win of the competition at 98 for two in the 14th over, however a batting collapse left them two runs short. Kelvin Umrao removed both Leeward Islands openers in one over and then grabbed three more wickets in another over later in the innings to finish with five for 26.
