US Economy Registers Faster-than-expected Growth

RJR News / Strong consumer spending helped the US economy to grow faster than previously estimated in the third quarter.      The world’s largest economy grew at an annualised rate of 3.2 per cent in the three months to September, up from an earlier estimate of 2.9 per cent.       The figure outstrips the second quarter growth rate of 1.4 per cent, and was above economists’ estimates of three per cent growth.      The Commerce Department said the rate of growth was the strongest since the third quarter of 2014.
