‘UWI campus will create investment opportunities’*

Trinidad Express / THE South Western Division of Trinidad and Tobago remains one of the statistically safest areas in the country and its location makes it well poised for investment, says president of the Penal/Debe Chamber of Commerce Shiva Roopnarine. Speaking on the issue of the Law Faculty of the Penal-Debe Campus of The University of the West Indies (UWI), Roopnarine said the campus holds the potential for business expansion and further growth and development in South Trinidad. He said the campus will create many investment opportunities in and around the area, not just for the businesses from Penal/Debe but also for national franchises who would have hoped to invest in tandem with the campus. The South campus was at the centre of criticism last week from some law students in St Augustine after they marched at the north campus demanding a meeting with the school’s principal Prof Brian Copeland to discuss their possible relocation.
