Yes PM, summon Parliament now*

Trinidad Express / At last! And not a moment too soon! Prime Minister Keith Rowley on July 7 announced that his “unadvised guess” is that the Marcia Ayers-Caesar fiasco“may end up in the lap of the executive some time”. And that if it does “it would become a matter for the executive to deal with”. Yes Prime Minister, my “unadvised” advice to you is that the population at large has long expected you, as head of the executive, to take all appropriate and necessary action in this matter. It is not a question of “if it ends up in the lap of the executive”. It is already there! Since the judiciary appears to be unwilling or unable to fix the problems arising out of this fiasco, someone has to. And that someone is the Government! The problems that have emerged can’t be left festering in limbo forever. And, by the way, the issue is not whether the Chief Justice should be investigated or whether the President should have informed the Government and the population of the resignations of two members of the Judicial and Legal Service Commission (JLSC) earlier than he did.
