Young netballers finish 14th*

Trinidad Express / WALES avenged an earlier loss to Trinidad and Tobago by edging out the “Junior Calypso Girls” for 13th spot at the 2017 Netball World Youth Cup which ended yesterday in Gaborone, Botswana. Trinidad and Tobago finished 14th of the 20 participating nations. They had moved into position to finish 13th after beating Northern Ireland 51-40 on Friday, while Wales beat Barbados 47-44. But in yesterday’s game, the Welsh won by a single goal, 44-43 and took 13th place. When the teams had met in Group D action earlier in the tournament, T&T had won 36-32. At the top of the competition, defending champions New Zealand were facing Australia for the gold medal prize while England and Fiji faced off for bronze, yesterday. Jamaica were guaranteed to finish best of the Caribbean teams and were playing South Africa for fifth spot,
