Ytepp cosmetology students develop professional beauty products

The trinidad Guardian / The Institute of Cosmetology, recently established by Ytepp for Level 2 training in Hairdressing and Aesthetics, is creating employment. A release from Ytepp said its first cohort of trainees is the next set of employers that will be bringing added value to the cosmetology industry.

The first cohort that will soon graduate, comprises of people with level one training and/or experience in cosmetology, salon owners and beauty and aesthetics practitioners. Some have closed their salons, giving up income to invest in their year-long studies at Ytepp’s Training salon/spa.

Product development forms an integral part of the curriculum at the institute for the students to demonstrate an in-depth understanding of classroom theory and the needs of their real clients that often visit the

Institute of Cosmetology. Each student developed products for hair and skin, ranging from shampoos to moisturisers, facial masks to lip scrubs and foot soaks to body detoxes and massage oils; all using local and natural herbs, fruits, vegetables and oils.

The products were professionally packaged, tested on live clients and presented to a panel that included professional cosmetologists and a product development specialist in the cosmetology industry. They were all given the thumbs up by the pros.
