Mohammed is CAZOVA boss again

MUSHTAQUE MOHAMMED was retained as president of the CAZOVA (Caribbean Zonal Volleyball Association) Confederation during their congress in Montego Bay, Jamaica, over the weekend.

CAZOVA is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year and the Trinidadian has been at the helm in all but one of the years after being instrumental in forming the organisation in 1994

Mohammed will be the president for at least four more years after defeating 1st vice-president Lucille Hobson of United States Virgin Islands by eight voted to four. There were no other positions contested during the election and all the incumbents retained their posts

Mohammed returned as interim president of the Trinidad and Tobago Volleyball Federation (TTVF) in January and he will be at the helm at least until the next election in November next year. The 57-year-old had given up the reins of the TTVF in 2012 after being in charge for 15 straight years

Mohammed, one of the most successful administrators to ever emerge from the Caribbean has held the post of vice-president of NORCECA (NORCECA (North, Central America and the Caribbean) for the last 23 years

And last year, the southerner was elected president of the FIVB (International Volleyball Federation) Development Commission after being the secretary for the previous six years

Daymian Stewart, who led the TTVF from ’12 until ’16 and is now the interim delegate vice-president, was proposed by Mohammed as executive director of CAZOVA
