CREAD has been working on a lot of great initiatives to help build Dominica’s resiliency says CEO

The Climate Resilience Execution Agency of Dominica (CREAD) has been working on a lot of great initiatives that’ll help Dominica achieve its goal of becoming climate resilient, while the agency is still in operation. That is according to the Chief Executive Officer, Ms. Francine Baron.

Baron stated that CREAD was created through an act of parliament, the Climate Resilience Act of 2018, where the legislation indicated that the agency would be in operation for 4 years with the possibility of it being extended for one more year. She indicated that parliament indicated that parliament made the decision last year to extend it for an additional year, indicating that CREAD comes to end in December 2023.

For example, the Flexible Hurricane Product, it is apart of how to manage risks. In terms of MSME’s, Baron stated that it deals with how to build a more robust economy and how to strengthen and diversify that economy

She indicated that CREAD has been providing support to the government in that regard, where they have been working with the ministries to develop a strategic plan template that takes into account the alignment with Dominica’s resilience objectives, as well as the Dynamic Dominica vision of the government
