EMPLEADOS DESPEDIDOS DEMANDAN A TWITTER
La empresa ha negado haber infringido la ley que exige el preaviso y aún no ha respondido a las otras reclamaciones.
Twitter Inc fue acusada el martes por 100 ex empleados de varias violaciones legales derivadas de la adquisición de la compañía por parte de Elon Musk, incluyendo la selección de mujeres para despidos y el no pago de las indemnizaciones prometidas.
Shannon Liss-Riordan, abogada de los trabajadores, dijo que había presentado 100 demandas de arbitraje contra Twitter que hacen afirmaciones similares a cuatro demandas colectivas pendientes en un tribunal federal de California.
Según Liss-Riordan, todos los trabajadores firmaron acuerdos para someter los litigios contra la empresa a arbitraje y no a los tribunales, lo que significa que probablemente no podrán participar en las demandas colectivas.
Twitter despidió a unos 3.700 empleados a principios de noviembre como medida de recorte de gastos por parte de Musk, que pagó 44.000 millones de dólares para adquirir la plataforma de redes sociales, y cientos más dimitieron posteriormente.
Las demandas colectivas pendientes alegan que Twitter despidió a empleados y contratistas sin el preaviso de 60 días que exige la ley, despidió de forma desproporcionada a mujeres y forzó la salida de trabajadores con discapacidad al negarse a permitir el trabajo a distancia.
